Telling Nicholas

watching the 2nd documentary in as many days time, i have come across another hbo one called Telling Nicholas. it is about a young child (nicholas) and his family's battle to tell him that his mother died in the world trade center bombing. it is filmed over almost a 2 week period. as i write this it is in day 10. the day that the kid's dead beat dad is going to tell him that his mother may be dead. now watching this movie made me somewhat angry on how the dad treated the situation. granted he was not around alot because of the separation between the kid and his mother. but fuck he waited 10 days to tell the kid what wsa going on. and the way he told him is the most awkward and weird thing ive ever seen. now when my mom told me and my brother about my dad she didnt wait 10 days, she waited maybe 6. and the way she told us was she sat us on a couch and told us that. not out on a street in public. do it in the privacy of your own home fuckhead. the grandmother of nicholas is a nut case. she has the old mindset of muslims that because some decide to crash the planes that all are terrorists. i once heard a quote..."the majority of terrorists are muslim, but the majority of muslims are not terroists." the child in being told this seems more ok with the situation because he doesnt know how to react than the dad itself. its just really hard to watch this because i donno i feel like that little kid.

HBO: Alive Day Home From Iraq

i am so thankful to have on demand HBO in my apartment. i love to watch the documentaries that play on that. Right now i am watching the documentary Alive day. About 10 iraq war vets who were drastically injured in their fight for "freedom". All of these people have something terribly wrong with them. one has an extreme brain injury while the others so far have lost limbs. this has been probabely one of the more disturbing things ive seen. the reason being that in some cases it shows the thing that they were in blowing up. its extremely crazy. a statistic shows that over 25000 people have been injured in the 6 years since the war has started. i think its about time to bring these people home. i have been listening to the radio alot lately the talk stations called 97.1 free fm. and they brought up an interesting point being no matter who we take out of there there will always be a constant troop involvement in iraq. i believe in ways it is kind of like turkey? i could be wrong in this case. but this war needs to end. it has no end to the war onfreedom and as more time goes on the initial starting of the war becomes less and and less imprtant and new things are always found to have the war be at it. i just think it needs to stop and soon. it has no point. it may have had a point initially, with wmds and searching for osama and sadam. and yea we did find sadam. but at what price? what price can we say that it is enough? probabely never.
