Telling Nicholas

watching the 2nd documentary in as many days time, i have come across another hbo one called Telling Nicholas. it is about a young child (nicholas) and his family's battle to tell him that his mother died in the world trade center bombing. it is filmed over almost a 2 week period. as i write this it is in day 10. the day that the kid's dead beat dad is going to tell him that his mother may be dead. now watching this movie made me somewhat angry on how the dad treated the situation. granted he was not around alot because of the separation between the kid and his mother. but fuck he waited 10 days to tell the kid what wsa going on. and the way he told him is the most awkward and weird thing ive ever seen. now when my mom told me and my brother about my dad she didnt wait 10 days, she waited maybe 6. and the way she told us was she sat us on a couch and told us that. not out on a street in public. do it in the privacy of your own home fuckhead. the grandmother of nicholas is a nut case. she has the old mindset of muslims that because some decide to crash the planes that all are terrorists. i once heard a quote..."the majority of terrorists are muslim, but the majority of muslims are not terroists." the child in being told this seems more ok with the situation because he doesnt know how to react than the dad itself. its just really hard to watch this because i donno i feel like that little kid.

HBO: Alive Day Home From Iraq

i am so thankful to have on demand HBO in my apartment. i love to watch the documentaries that play on that. Right now i am watching the documentary Alive day. About 10 iraq war vets who were drastically injured in their fight for "freedom". All of these people have something terribly wrong with them. one has an extreme brain injury while the others so far have lost limbs. this has been probabely one of the more disturbing things ive seen. the reason being that in some cases it shows the thing that they were in blowing up. its extremely crazy. a statistic shows that over 25000 people have been injured in the 6 years since the war has started. i think its about time to bring these people home. i have been listening to the radio alot lately the talk stations called 97.1 free fm. and they brought up an interesting point being no matter who we take out of there there will always be a constant troop involvement in iraq. i believe in ways it is kind of like turkey? i could be wrong in this case. but this war needs to end. it has no end to the war onfreedom and as more time goes on the initial starting of the war becomes less and and less imprtant and new things are always found to have the war be at it. i just think it needs to stop and soon. it has no point. it may have had a point initially, with wmds and searching for osama and sadam. and yea we did find sadam. but at what price? what price can we say that it is enough? probabely never.

an intro.

a picture of this, inspired me to finally get a political or thought blog. yea myspace can give you the blog but at least with this its more of a political or other nature thats not totally social like the other.

recently i read a book intiled Red China Blues, and read about a woman who lived in communist china in the seventies and the 80's and witnessed two large events one being the death of Mao Zedong, and the other at tianamen square (sp). many people upon reading this will be confused on why it is called 12:10. 12:10 has two large signicant meanings. one being the time i was born when i was well born. and the other is when chairmain mao was pronounced dead in the late seventies. i thought it was a cool coincidence and decided to make that the name.

recently as many know was wat some call the "Virgina Tech Massacre". this was a horrible day in history and even i the most outlandish one siad wow thats fucked up. but a few things really strike me. the first with it being called "The Massacre". call me insensitive as most will within the next minute or two.... it was not a massacre. many people died yes, but TIanamen square was a massacre, genocides in Sudan and Germany were massacres. this was simply a largely deadly shooting. the second thing that strkes me as weird, is that this kid had been a loner, in his drama class made weird twisted plays and that shit. it always seems that after a shooting or deadly thing, there is always people going oooo i knew he was like that. than why not get some balls to say something. i cant help and not believe that it wasnt coming. most thigns are if you really watch it. for the people who said they saw it coming, arent true kus if they were afraid than soemthing would have happened. a third strikes me is that he had a great fucking shot. the dude put three bullets in most that relatively could be deadly shots. and how the media brings up that he got the gun from an out of state guns dealer. many will contest and say all his stuff was not legit. the funny thing is everything he did was totally legit and legal as far as the purchases went. its when virginia has a no waiting period that fucks it up. yea maybe a waiting period would have showed stuff, but his mental illnesses according to my readings, was not to be brought up in his background check. the final thing that seemed weird was when everyone had died and the smoked cleared that everybody had a new nationalistic tie to the hoakies. wow great get behind a nice cause, but this shit happens everyday in foreign states. 32 people die at any given time by a small bomb or something in iraq, but it is widely reported and causes nationalistic uprisings? no, its normal. the thing that always makes me kind of laugh in a way is the nationalistic uprisings that occur at any and all tragedies. the same type of thing happened just after 9/11 and died down, unfortunately so will this. every tragedy should not bring up nationalism, but things like national pride, should always be out there, before a tragedy. things suck tragedies suck. but they happen and because stuff is small when it comes to little spurts of i love the u.s. kind of makes me sick. it shouldnt be a shooting that unites hoakies, but football games, basketballl games..anything just something other than 32 people died should bring pride to that school....i guess i just don't get it.
